Carnatic Music is the great classical music art form of South India. With its ancient origins, it is the oldest musical form that is still in practice.

Today, Carnatic music is spreading all around the world and through the internet is getting an even wider audience.

Carnatic music lets you explore this fascinating art to the fullest with links to audio, information about leading practitioners and organizations as well as an extensive library of knowledge.

The Bangalore Gayansamaja's Prime Endeavour is to popularize Indian classical musical forms amongst all sections of the society.

The Bangalore Gayana Samaja established in the year 1905 has been "serving for the cause of music " from then and also to popularize all sorts of art forms such as dance, drama, classical vocal and instrumental, promote young and upcoming youth, conduct an eight day long annual music conference where an eminent and well known personality from the field of music is being elected to be the conference president and honored and conferred with the title "SANGEETHA KALA RATHNA" and hold music competitions, lecture demonstrations, talent promotion programs for the young artistes, and also to honor and confer "SREE KALA JYOTHI " award to several eminent personalities from various fields of music, and to have music concerts from well known artistes in the evenings. The Bangalore Gayana Samaja also have "VAADYA VAIBHAVA" a three day long instrumental festival where an eminent and well known personality in the field of percussion or instrumental is honored and conferred with the title "NAADA SHREE" and to have only instrumental programs of various types of instruments and percussions . Composer's day is being held every year to pay tributes to the composers and to have GHOSHTI GAYANA .apart from all these monthly endowment programs are also held regularly.

The Bangalore Gayana Samaja building  which was constructed in 1960 had a renovation with new seating arrangement and other minor additions in 1994.

A major renovation work of the Bangalore Gayana Samaja was undertaken in the year 1994 by the guidenace and immense efforts of the then president Sri.H.Kamala Nath and other sincere and honest, dedicated office bearers like Sri.G.V.Krishna Prasad, Sri.Suryanarayana Shetty and several experts like Dr.Raja Ramanna, Sri.Rama Murthy, Sri H.K.Nanjunda Swamy to name a few.

The installation of the new cushioned seating arrangements was a great relief and comfort to those music lovers who used to squat on the floor and enjoy the music till then. In addition the entire acoustics was redone with speakers, mikes and amplifiers, stage lighting, makeup rooms and new generator was installed and of course with attractive painting of the whole building.

After a gap of 22 years the present fully renovated building, one more milestone in the history of Gayana Samaja has stood up as a land mark in architecture in January 2017. The president Dr.M.R.V.Prasad and his whole team of sincere, honest and dedicated office bearers, Sri.K.Jairaj,Chairman of the Samaja Trust, Sri.H.K.Nanjunda Swamy just to name a few took up the renovation work in may 2016 and was ready by the end of December 2016 and inaugurated of 15th of January 2017.the new building has traditional and heritage front elevation and a porch like entrance with glittering bold lettered, titanium metallic name board both in Kannada And English ,fully air-conditioned, equipped with the sophisticated 'Harman' audio systems with good acoustics', luxurious comfortable semi pushback chairs, apart from other extensions like multipurpose hall, granite laid foyer, toilets with high-tech fittings, all the floorings with new tiles, new led lights for the auditorium roof, installation of CCTV cameras at vantage points ,and other necessary requirements.

The present fully renovated building has stood up like a Land Mark architecture in 2017. The new building has a traditional and heritage look porch like entrance with glittering  Titanium metallic Name Boards,fully airconditioned, equipped with the sophisticated Harman audio systems,luxurious comfortable semi pushback chairs,apart from other extensions like multi purpose hall,Granite laid foyer and all the floorings with new tiles and new LED lights for the roof of the auditorium and other necessary requirements which costed around Rs.1.5 crores. We have installed CCTV cameras also at vantage points.

The building was inaugurated on Sunday the 15th January evening.
